    ispe Meeting in Washington

I enjoyed attending the annual meeting of the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE2025) in Washington on 22-26 August 2025.

The first planery session was about Pragmatic (Simple) trials. These trials benefit from both worlds. Patients are randomised to balance baseline bias, but no other requirement or measurements are done. The researcher seeks study outcomes only. In other words, randomisation with real world observation. Simple trials have their place but are underused. Hybrid methods, including getting the outcomes from a database should make conducting these studies easier. Hopefully we will see more Simple clinical trials. They are beneficial for interventions with small treatment effects and when it is difficult to eliminate baseline bias.

  • Introducing my Executive Assistant, Caterina Coppola

I am very pleased to announce that Caterina Coppola has joined ADROITVIGILANCE as an Executive Assistant.

Caterina brings a wealth of experience with her, having worked as PA/EA/Office Administrator and Training Adviser in biotechnology, software and technology industries.

In addition to her secretarial and administrative skills, Caterina has experience in training and event management.

I can’t remember seeing an administrator hitting the ground running in a new job as efficiently as Caterina has done.  She is not only contributing to our work effectively, but Caterina is also taking initiatives and generating new ideas and work practices.

At ADROITVIGILANCE we are busy with our pharmacovigilance consultancy, training courses and advancing pharmacovigilance forwards. Our team is expanding, we aim to make a difference.

    Best wishes
